A really brief intro to what I do: I’ve spent over 30 years in the Human Resources field working in all manner of business sectors as a team specialist.

I originally learned the very best team and leadership skills in the Women’s Royal Navy; where leadership is everything and the support and backing of your team members can be the difference between life and death – not so much for the women in those days, but absolutely for the male members of our teams.

I then trained as a work study engineer where our job was to look at processes in factories and to work out how we could create efficiencies by smoothing out any roadblocks. At no stage did we ever involve the people doing the job, which I found very strange, after all, who knows a job best but the people doing the job?

I’m now pretty much a full time author. In 2017 I wrote the book Lessons in Leadership: 50 ways to avoid falling into the ‘Trump’ trap, because I found his leadership style abysmal. I’ve recently completed Leaders Behaving Badly: why some people enable them and how others courageously stand up to them which is a continuation of Trump’s appalling behaviours but which takes in the mysterious people around him who hang on his every word, and the people who are finally standing up to him.

I’ve promised that as long as he keeps behaving badly, I’ll keep calling him out, though my articles on this site won’t just be about him, I’ll make sure I post regular articles on all manner of leadership challenges. I’ll regularly post tips and tools for career development – team development – personal development and any topic that seems to be relevant in today’s crazy business world.
